Quick Facts…

Size: Team size can vary between 2 and 10 members.

Ages: Students in 4th grade through the end of elementary school.

Affiliation: Teams often organize through schools, neighborhood groups, youth organizations, religious programs, scout programs and homeschool groups.

Cost: (estimated)
New Team: $770; includes LEGO Mindstorms® robotics set (one time purchase), team registration fee, field setup kit, qualifying tournament fee. Optional costs: $150 on average. (Qualified new rookie teams are eligible for a $300 grant from General Motors. Click on Announcements for details.)
Veteran Team: $350; includes team registration fee, field setup kit, qualifying tournament fee. Optional costs: $100 on average.

Coaches: A team must have at least one coach, 18 years of age or older. TIP! Have the parents of the team members share the load. Split up duties and show by example how a team works together.

Mentors: Many FLL teams also have mentors, people who have skills and knowledge in specific areas. Tip! FRC team members make great mentors. Find a nearby team under “Michigan FRC>Michigan FRC Teams”.
